Capacity building of university libraries in Rwanda with Swedish university partners

This is the blog of the cooperation between the University of Rwanda (UR) libraries, the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) and the library of the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) aiming at capacity building for the development of a modern research library at the University of Rwanda. It is carried out within the UR-Sweden Programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement.

Cross-cutting programs cooperating

Sylvie Mboyo, responsible for the harmonization of ICT at the University of Rwanda, hosted a meeting Friday afternoon at the College of Science and Technology (CST).
Sylvie, Alphonse Ngabonzima (library director at CST), Eva Norling (librarian at BTH) and Anna Stockman (librarian at BTH) discussed IP-addresses, infrastructure, web development, collaborative tools, Content management systems, proxy servers and much more.
It was a very fruitful meeting and a "To do list" will be followed up by the participants.

Why this blog

This blog reflects the cooperation between the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) at the University of Borås (UB), the library at the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), and the library of the University of Rwanda within the framework of the Sida Research Training Partnership Programme Sweden-Rwanda: UR-Sweden Programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement. Our sub programme is simply called "the Library sub programme".

Our aim is for the library sub programme to be transparent and shared by all UR librarians. The focus here is on capacity building with and for the libraries. But our intention is also to give information about the overall programme and its activities, especially those with impact on the UR and our sub progamme.
